As for choosing Ha for the male leading role of Jihah, I, producers Lee Joon-dong and Andrew Fierberg had previously met at the Pusan International Film Festival. The one film we saw was The Unforgiven(starring Ha), and the three of us thought What a charismatic actor . . . . .

I think I’m very sensitive but he is even more. His performances are surprisingly intense for such a young and male actor. While filming the chaser, I became his big fan. I’m sure that he will become an actor who represent Korea in about 5 years . . . . .  

It was really surpring how a man can be so sensitive. I saw The unforgiven, H.I.T. and Time. Jung Woo was like Johnny depp.

For YoungMin’s character, I didn’t give any direction to Ha since Young Min was that type of character from the beginning. Since Ha is such a sensitive actor, I directed him directly by talking to the other actors and having him react to the actor playing opposite to him.

As an actor, Ha Jung Woo is quite special, as he knows about the field of filming as much as director does. He fully understands how lighting is set up, the size of the screen, and the types of lenses used.

Within that scope, he got to each point with enormous focus.
